Hwy 218 intersection safety improvement project begins Sept. 23
If you travel Highway 218 near Lyle and the Iowa border, be ready for a construction project starting next week.
Highway 218 motorists in Lyle should be alert for construction and short traffic delays beginning Sept. 23 when an intersection safety improvement project begins, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced.
The work was originally expected to start Sept. 16 according to a release on Monday, but that now has been postponed.
Construction crews will begin work to add a northbound right turn lane and southbound bypass lane at the Highway 218 and Pershing Avenue intersection in Lyle. During construction, motorists may experience single lane traffic on Highway 218 with flaggers and short duration, temporary closures of the Pershing Avenue entrance to Highway 218.
The project is expected to be completed by Oct. 14. Rochester Sand & Gravel is the prime contractor for the $269,532 project.
