NWS warns of chance of strong, severe storms in coming days
Area residents may want to keep an eye to the sky in the coming days.
The National Weather Service in La Crosse, Wis., is warning of a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms on Sunday and Monday. The storms will bring a chance of large hail, damaging winds, localized flooding and possibly a few tornadoes.
After months of drought conditions, the area has seen no shortage of precipitation recently. Austin has officially experienced its wettest year to date on record, according the weather service. Since Jan. 1, Austin has received 15.56 inches of rain through May 17.
There is a chance of rain and thunderstorms Sunday through Thursday, and an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain could fall.
