GENEVA — Geneva Bar & Grill will try something a little different next month.

The restaurant will host a drinking and painting event called Corks and Canvas. Participants get step-by-step instructions on how to paint a certain print, while wine is served throughout the event. Owner Barb Kuchenbecker said the print they’ll be emulating is of a tree.

Kuchenbecker has owned the establishment for the past seven years, while the place itself has been in business for 32 years.

Corks and Canvas will be from 1 to 3 p.m. May 3 at Geneva Bar & Grill, 101 W. Main St. in Geneva. Reservations are $40 per person, and cover the cost of the canvas and materials. Those interested can reserve their spots by stopping in the restaurant or by calling 507-256-7278.

Kuchenbecker said she’d heard of different events similar to Corks and Canvas going on but was talked into the idea by some of her customers. Those customers, Brenda Misgen and Jessica Tuttle of Ellendale, will instruct painters at Corks and Canvas.

Whether the event will occur next year at the Geneva bar depends on how well it’s received this first time, said Kuchenbecker.

“It’s something new and different to try,” she said. “We’ll see.”
