Youngsters will have an opportunity to hit the skies this weekend in Austin.

The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 386 will again host a free Young Eagles Flight Rally starting at 11 a.m. this Sunday at the Austin Municipal Airport. Registration opens at the airport from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Youth from 8 to 17 years old — accompanied by parents — can enjoy airplane rides and learn a little bit about the art of flying.

“Free airplane rides are just part of the Flight Rally,” event spokesman Mike Bibus said in a press release. “We hope to build one-to-one relationships between pilots and young people, giving a new generation a chance to learn more about the possibilities that exist in the world of aviation.”

Each participant will receive a Young Eagle certificate and their name entered in the “World’s Largest Logbook.”

More information about EAA and the Young Eagles can be found at www.eaa.org and www.youngeagles.org.
