Assault suspect in two cases charged again

The assailant who injured a man with a chain last September has now been charged with felony domestic assault for allegedly choking a woman several times.

Dean Allen Thordor, 38, of Austin, was charged Monday with felony terroristic threats and domestic assault by strangulation. He also faces gross misdemeanor charges for domestic assault and interfering with a 911 call.

The victim says Thordor choked her several times, which almost caused her to black out, and she thought she was going to die, according to the court complaint. Thordor took the victim’s phone, according to the report; however, the victim was able to contact police later on an old cell phone. Thordor left the scene but was arrested a day later at the Law Enforcement Center.

Thordor pleaded guilty last month to gross misdemeanor fifth-degree assault in the previous incident, in which he reportedly argued with a man and then assaulted him. The victim said Thordor struck him in the face several times with a blunt object. A witness says it was a chain.

Thordor also still faces charges from April 2012 from which he allegedly assaulted a 17-month-old and 4-year-old girl.

According to the court complaint, the girls’ mother said the children don’t like Thordor, and they often cry when they are alone with him. The 4-year-old has said Thordor hits both her and her sister, as well.

Thordor’s next court appearance is set for Feb. 21.
