The Commonweal Theatre Company in Lanesboro, Minnesota, has announced its 19th annual Ibsen Festival, April 15-17 in downtown Lanesboro.

The festival, named for Henrik Ibsen, the acclaimed “Father of Modern Drama,” is a celebration of Scandinavian theater, visual art, music and dance centered amidst the opening of Commonweal’s annual Ibsen production.

This year that production is the adaptation of Ibsen’s adaption of “The League of Youth,” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.

The play follows the rise of politician Stensgaard who is willing to do and say anything in his climb up the political ladder. The play is adapted by Minnesota playwright Jeffrey Hatcher.

The Ibsen Festival offers events and presentations throughout the weekend to allow guests to experience Norwegian culture in a variety of ways.
