Orpheum Theatre announces ‘Newsies’

Tickets are now on sale for the the Orpheum Theatre’s February presentation of Disney’s “Newsies,” on February 9-14.

Tickets went on sale Friday and is part of the 2015-16 Bank of America Broadway on Hennepin Season 2016. Tickets start at $39. Performance times are at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, “Newsies” is the story of Jack Kelly, a newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged “newsies,” who dreams of a better life far from the hardship of the streets.

When publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right.

Tickets are also currently on sale for a pair of December shows including Cirque Dreams Holidaze and the Blue Man Group.

The Cirque Dreams Holidaze features more than 300 costumes, 20 acts and 30 performers and will be presented Dec. 11 and 12 at 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively. Tickets range from $29 to $69.50.

Then the Blue Man Group will perform three days of shows on Dec. 18-20 as part of the 2015-16 Bank of America Broadway on Hennepin series. Performance times are 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
