Rotary Club stockpiling for annual chicken, corn feed
The Austin Rotary Club is prepping plenty of food for the 38th annual Chicken and Corn Feed on Sept. 17.
The event at St. Edward’s Corcoran Center in Austin opens at 11 a.m. this Tuesday and goes until 7. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children 3 to 10 and free for younger.
Presale tickets are available for $1 cheaper from Rotary Club members. Carry-out meals are available at the event, as well.
Ticket sales help fund the Austin Rotary’s projects and programs.
“Profits from ticket sales go to good use both right here in Austin and across the world for international Rotary projects,” said President Scott Anderson. “We are hoping for great community response again this year. People will enjoy a good lunch or dinner for a very good cause.”
The event is Austin Rotary Club’s major fundraiser of the year.
Austin Rotary Club projects include sponsorship of the Rotary International Student Exchange program, annual leadership events for high school students, providing illustrated dictionaries to all three in Austin public and parochial schools, support for the WORD project at Ellis Middle School, annual recognition for outstanding community, government and school leadership, a literacy project with Street Girls Aid in Ghana, Africa, led by Rotary volunteers, Riverland Scholarships, support to Red Cross and more.
