Austin Area Support Group will hold first meeting

The Austin Area Support Group will hold its first meeting at 10:30 a.m. on July 15, at the Oak Park Mall Community Room for people who have experienced loss.

Meetings will be held every Tuesday until Aug. 12 and will last a little over an hour.

“It’s just another place where a person can seek help and have others understand what they’re going through,” said Worlein Funeral Home Community Services Director Mary Kittelson.

Every meeting will feature a different presenter and cover a variety of topics. Pastor Karen Behling will lead the first week with a discussion of the film “Tear Soup.” Other presenters include Rev. Steve DeFor, Chaplain Elizabeth Endicott, and Rev. Pam Solberg.

Each meeting will be followed by an informal lunch gathering.

“It adds a little bit of a social piece to it,” Kittelson said.

Kittelson wants interested people to try the group, though they are not forced to attend if they don’t like it.

“We encourage people to come to at least the first couples sessions to see what it’s all about,” Kittelson said.”

The support group free and open to the public. For more information, contact Mary at 507-433-5000.
