Saturday was a good day for the Austin High School baseball team. In addition to playing Hibbing in the Metrodome, the Packers also scored their first win of the season, 7-2.

Austin (1-4 overall) got the job done with a Brady Klingfus no-hitter on the mound and plenty of Packer offense.

Klingfus pitched all seven innings, striking out 11, while giving up no hits and two runs, one of which was earned.

“It was great to see Brady finish with that no-hitter,” said Austin head coach Troy Watkins. “I think that’s something he’ll remember for the rest of his life.”

Hibbing scored one run in the fifth inning after two walks, a sacrifice bunt and a fielder’s choice and added a second run in the sixth off an error.

As for the Packers, Mike Tindal went three for four; Joey Swatfager was two for five; Jack Miller was one for two, wile Jacob Hines and Preston Higbe each went one for three.

In addition, Tindal made a diving catch in centerfield in the second inning to preserve the no-hitter.

“It was a fun day all around,” Watkins said. “Lots of history in the dome. It was kind of fun to play on the turf.”
