St. Charles (5-3 overall) knocked off the Southland softball team 10-5 in Adams Monday.

Junior Holly Goergen belted a fourth-inning grand slam for the Rebels (2-4 overall) as her team pulled to within 7-5.

Southland committed six errors in the loss and all 10 of St. Charles’ runs were unearned.

“Our hitting is there, but our defense is still struggling,” Southland head coach Greg Shulte said. “We need to pick it up.”
