COVID-19 cases jump over the weekend

Mower County saw another big spike in COVID-19 cases over the weekend, edging closer to 200 total cases.

The Minnesota Department of Health on Monday reported there have now been 189 cases in the county, a jump of 77 cases from Friday when the county sat at 112 cases. To put that in perspective, the county saw a 44 case rise over five days from Monday last week to Friday.

Statewide there are now 21,315 cases. MDH reported 745 new cases Monday and 12 new deaths. To date there have been 881 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

There are 605 still in the hospital with 248 in ICU.

Nearby counties case numbers include Dodge (44), Fillmore (17, one death), Freeborn (93), Steele (141) and Olmsted (562, 10 deaths).
