64 COVID-19 cases reported in Mower County since March 19

The Minnesota Department of Health has confirmed 64 cases of COVID-19 Mower County since March 19.

According to Mower County Health and Human Services Division Manager Pam Kellogg, the new cases from the weekend and Monday range among individuals in their early 20s to early 60s. Two individuals are hospitalized.

The MDH website currently reports 65 case in Mower County, but Kellogg said one case accredited to Mower is actually in Freeborn County

Neighboring counties of Olmsted, Dodge, Steele, Freeborn and Fillmore have reported 461, 36, 111, 61 (62) and 17 cases respectively.

Statewide, the MDH announced Monday that the total number of confirmed cases since March 6 is 16,372. Of that, 1,870 were health care workers and 10,764 are no longer in isolation. As of Monday, 488 Minnesota COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, including 229 in intensive care. 

The MDH also reported 731 COVID-19 deaths in Minnesota since March 21.
