William “Bill” Charles Nygren, 73, of Buffalo City, Wisconsin, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, at his home.

Bill was born June 22, 1946, in Austin to Harry and Kathryn (Trichler) Nygren. He grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School. Bill worked for the railroad for many years. On Aug. 20, 1978, he was united in marriage to Judy K. Kruckeberg in Lansing, Minnesota. Bill and Judy purchased the Windrift Lounge in Austin in 1979 and retired to Buffalo City in 2004. He was an avid football fan and loved golfing, fishing, and had a great sense of humor. Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his daughters, Kim (Brian) Bakken of Austin and Shannon Apold of Austin; five grandchildren, Trevor, Zach, Lauren, McKenna and Hannah; two great-grandchildren, Zavi and Adley; brother, Tom (Susan) Nygren of Columbus, Ohio; and daughter-in-law, Jolynn Koster of Bemidji, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Kathryn Nygren; wife, Judy Nygren; two stepsons, Jim and Jeff Koster; and sister, Nancy.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Burial at the Blooming Prairie City Cemetery will take place following the service. The Nygren family will greet friends for one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials can be directed to the recipient of the donor’s choice.
