John R. Frost, also known as “Frosty,” 55, of Austin, Minnesota, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester.

John R. Frost, 55

John was born on April 30, 1964, in Zumbrota, Minnesota, to Arthur Jones and Marie Glaser Olson. His stepfather growing up was David Frost.

Throughout his life he was known for being the fastest taxi driver around Rochester, Minnesota, and for being a bar bouncer. In his spare time, you could catch John with a pool cue in his hand at any given bar or pool hall, scratching lotto tickets and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by his children, Robert (Elizabeth) Fisher, Austin, Michael Frost, Mapleview, Minnesota, and Mariah Southwick, Rochester; grandchildren, Andrea, Bryce, Hailey, Octavia, Abraham and Taliyah; siblings, Arthur Jones Jr., Tracy Jones, Charles Jones, Anthony Jones, Robert Turner, Todd Olsen, Todd McEachern Sr. and Teresa Marquez; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; stepmother, Rita Vonch; and his beloved dogs.

There will be a celebration of life from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at The Bakery Lounge in Austin. There will also be a memorial pool tournament, with sign-up at noon and playing starting at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at The Bakery Lounge. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in John’s memory. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
