BP’s Alwes starts strong at state golf meet

Five area golfers opened play on the first day of Minnesota Class A State Golf Meet at Pebble Creek in Becker Tuesday.

Blooming Prairie sophomore Kollyn Alwes shot an 83 on the first day and he is tied for 21st place overall with three other golfers. He will tee off at 7:57 a.m. Wednesday.

Southland sophomore Max Schmitz of Southland shot an 85 and he is 28th place overall. He will tee off at 7:48 a.m. Wednesday.

Hayfield freshman Keegan Bronson shot a 97 and he is in 67th place overall. He will tee off at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Bronson is golfing in his second state golf meet.

GMLO senior Grant Vikre shot a 99 and he is in 71st place overall. He will tee off at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

In the girls meet, Hayfield eighth grader Macy Holtorf shot a 100 and she is in tied for 48th place.

Brett Reid of Community Christian leads the boys field with a score of 72 after the first day of play.

Rachel Halvorson of Lac Qui Parle Valley leads the girls field with a score of 79.
