LP suffers first loss of the season to Cresco

The Lyle-Pacelli girls basketball team, ranked No. 1 in Class A, suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of Iowa’s No. 2 ranked team in Class 3A Crestwood, 65-55 Saturday at Luther College.

“I’m incredibly proud of our kids,” said head coach Justin Morris. “They gave big time effort and really answered the bell against a phenomenal opponent.”

LP led 18-14 after the first quarter but got into foul trouble leading to a 37-28 Crestwood lead at halftime.

“In my six years at LP that’s the best team we’ve ever faced,” Morris said. “They are big athletic, skilled and can shoot the lights out.”

Kristi Fett and Abigail Bollingberg led LP with 14 points each.
