Alumni Update: Area grads see action in football and volleyball

FOOTBALL

Grand Meadow grad Landon Jacobson and Blooming Prairie grad John Rumpza both got in on the action as the Winona State University football team beat St. Cloud State 34-10 Saturday.

Rumpza, a sophomore, completed his first Division II pass as he went one-for-three with 22 yards and Jacobson had two carries for four yards for the Warriors (3-0 overall).

Jacobson now has 11 carries for 14 yards and on touchdown on the season.

BP grad Scott Romeo, who plays for St. Cloud State (2-1 overall), didn’t have a tackle against Winona State, but he does have two tackles on the season.

Grand Meadow grad Christophor Bain has seen some actin on special teams for Southwest Minnesota State University this season. Bain has returned two kicks for a total of 19 yards for he Mustangs (2-1 overall).

Austin grad Corey Waller had five total tackles and a half tackle for a loss for RCTC in a 35-14 win over Fon du Lac Tribal and Community College Saturday.

Waller now has six tackles in two games for the Yellowjackets (2-1 overall).

Hayfield grad Lane Canny has played in two games for RCTC and he has recorded one tackle.

VOLLEYBALL

Austin grad Kelsey Sederquest had seven digs and Hayfield grad Savanna Cordle had one kills, one dig and one assist block for Waldorf University as the Warriors lost to Wartburg College in four games Sept. 16.

The Warriors are 3-12 on the season.

Hayfield grad Anna Carney had five digs and Blooming Prairie grad Lauren Larkoski had two kills and four digs for RCTC (5-10 overall) as it swept Central Lakes Sept. 16.

On the season, Carney has 126 digs and Larkoski has 27 kills and 127 digs.

LeRoy-Ostrander grad Sam Siskow has been the leading hitter for Riverland Community College this season. Siskow has 104 kills, 106 digs and eight blocks for the Blue Devils (1-10 overall).

Austin grad Marissa Hart has 96 digs on the season, Southland grad Gabby Smith has 40 kills and 22 blocks, Austin grad Jaidyn Bastian has 21 kills and 66 digs on the season for RCC.

SOCCER

Austin grad Matias Parada has played in three games for Luther College this season.

Parada has played 47 minutes and he has attempted one shot for Luther (3-3 overall).

Austin grad Abel Gebrekiros has started six games for Iowa Lakes Community College (4-4 overall) this season.

Gebrekiros has 11 shots, one goal and two assists.
