Austin Public Schools could be decreasing its annual levy by 2.6 percent.

The board is set to discuss decreasing the levy from 2016’s roughly $6.77 million to about $6.6 million for 2017.

The board meets at 4 p.m. in the district conference room, 401 Third Ave. NW.

In other business, the board will hear an overview of Project E3 from Integration Coordinator Kristi Beckman, teacher Erin Johnson and Project E3 students.

Then the board is set to hear its second request through the Austin Housing Initiative tax abatement for new home projects.

Maximum 2017 levies

City of Austin: $5.3 million, a 9 percent increase

Austin Public Schools: about $6.6 million, a 2.6 percent decrease

Mower County: about $20.3 million, a 5.7 percent increase

—The Austin Public Schools and Mower County boards have not yet voted to approve the proposed maximum levies. The school board is slated to on Monday, and the county board is slated to on Tuesday.
