With the annual ArtWorks Festival happening this weekend and lots of different music groups coming to town, there will be a variety of things to attend this weekend.

1. Olympics Party

Noon on Friday at the Mower County Senior Center

Enjoy wrapping up the Rio Olympics at the Senior Center. A meal serving roast beef or pork loin, cheddar mashed potatoes, sautéed squash and zucchini, Brazil nut cake or coconut white chocolate mousse will be included at the event. 2. Grant Blackwood Book Signing Event

Noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Sweet Reads Bookstore

Author Grant Blackwood will be making an appearance at Sweet Reads this Saturday. Blackwood is known for his books Duty and Honor, War Hawk, The Briggs Tanner Series and more. For more information, call 507-396-8660.

3. VFW Outdoor Music Event

7:30 p.m. Friday at the VFW

Blue Rooster and Cosmic will be performing at the VFW this Friday. Buy your tickets in advance to guarantee a spot inside. Cost is $10 per person. All proceeds are going to support youth activities in Mower County. This event is sponsored by Reichell Foods. For more information, call 507-433-6039.

4. Fifth annual Austin ArtWorks Festival

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Historic Downtown Power Plant

Celebrate local, regional, and nationally known artists at the historic power plant this Saturday and Sunday. The event will be featuring a wide variety of experiences in the arts throughout these two days. Family activities and demonstrations will also be held during the event. 5. Dick Schindler Celebration Concert

7 p.m. Saturday at the Historic Paramount Theater

This annual concert will feature music groups Malamanya, a band from the Twin Cities who base their music off of traditional rhythms from Cuba and Latin America, and Sonny Knight and the Lakers, also from the Twin Cities full of energy. The Peter Jacobs Trio is performing is jazz music in between the onstage performances. Tickets are $15.
