St. Olaf hosting Continuing Education Day

St. Olaf Lutheran Church will host its annual Continuing Education Day on Thursday.

The event features topics of special interest to senior citizens and a noon luncheon with a keynote speaker.

It opens at 9 a.m. with coffee, treats and registration. Classes start at 9:30 a.m. with two one-hour class periods and three classes from which to choose. This year’s classes are the following:

•“Community Snapshot – The Changing Face of Austin” with Amy Baskin, director of Community Education

•“Long Distance Grandparenting with Social Media” with Hannah Rosholt, director of communications, St. Olaf Lutheran Church

•“Planning Ahead for Senior Care Choices” with Nancy Donahue, senior advocate, Mower County Senior Center

A noon lunch will follow the classes featuring author Peggy Keener as the keynote speaker. Peggy’s topic is “An Austin Girl’s 30 years on the Far Side of the World.”

She will speak on her living experiences in Asia.

Continuing Education Day is open to everyone and all ages.

The cost for the event including the classes and the noon lunch is only $5. Tickets can be purchased at the St Olaf Lutheran Church Office at 306 Second St. NW. For more information, call 433-8857.
