The Blooming Prairie softball team opened its season with an 8-4 win over Medford (1-2 overall) on the road Monday.

Elly Strunk struck out 11 for the Awesome Blossoms (1-0 overall) and eighth grader Maya Lembke was two-for-four.

“The fifth and sixth innings were tough on us, but the other innings Elly pitched a pretty nice game,” BP head coach Ali Mach said.
