Bethlehem Free Methodist Church is celebrating the new year with a concert, games and food.

Bethlehem Free will hold the fourth annual free event called Deeper 2016 at 7 p.m. on Dec. 31. The New Year’s Eve worship will start at 8 p.m. There will be games, music and a lot of good food. The event will run until midnight.

“Our goal from the beginning was to create an event that brought together believers from several churches in the Austin area to bring in the New Year with an evening of games and music,” event organizer Jacob Bentley wrote in an email.

He said the first two years, the event ended up being many people from the Bethlehem Free Methodist church, but last year the event drew people from several Austin churches as well as nearby towns like Albert Lea.

The band, Bentley & Company, which features Bentley, along with his brothers Jordan and Caleb, his dad Davidjay, and other musician friends of theirs, has played the last several years. This year the Faith Youth Ministry Band, Evan Koehler, and Chloe Hope will join in providing live music for the event.

“Those who come can expect a night of games (including air hockey, foosball, bean bag toss, ping pong, etc.), food, fellowship, and, of course, live music continuing from 7 p.m. until we welcome in the new year at midnight,” Bentley said.

The event is open to all ages, and Bentley said the past has seen ages from 0 to 60’s attend and enjoy the festivities. The church is located at 1500 Fourth Ave. SE, near Ellis Middle School.
