Rochester Community and Technical College

Austin native earns summer internship

Alan Rice of Austin was one of the scholars to earn a summer with Honeywell through the Horatio Alger Association. The annual internship opportunity recognizes current Horatio Alger Scholars who are outstanding students and, in the face of great adversity, have exhibited an admirable commitment to pursuing their college degree. Rice attends University of Minnesota at Twin Cities and is interning at the McCook, Illinois, Honeywell location.

Jacob Daniel Christopherson of Lakeville has accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first-year and second-year students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing. He attends the University of North Dakota and is majoring in commercial aviation. Jacob maintained a 4.0 GPA for the full academic year and was selected to both the president’s honor roll and the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences dean’s list for the fall of 2014 and spring of 2015 semesters. Along with keeping up his grades in his major, Jacob received his private pilots license from the FAA in December of 2014. Jacob’s parents are Dan and Mary-Ann (Vereide) Christopherson of Lakeville. Grandparents are Woody and Marilyn Vereide, and Mary Christopherson all of Austin.
