Helayna Ly Nguyen, 19, of Austin, died Sunday, April 19, 2015, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.

She was born July 26, 1995, in Austin, Minnesota, to Loc Nguyen and Mui Ly. A lifelong resident of Austin, Helayna graduated from Austin High School in 2013. She was currently enrolled at Riverland Community College in Austin and had worked at Ankeny’s on the Eastside since 2012. Helayna attended St. Augustine Catholic Church. She loved to shop – shopping was her forte. Helayna also enjoyed sun-tanning, dancing, and going on trips with her friends. Her bright personality and gentle soul touched many people. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Helayna is survived by her parents Loc Nguyen and Mui Ly of Austin; her siblings: Jane (Merrick) Voong of Rochester, Minnesota, Menh Voong of New York, New York, and Billy Nguyen of Austin; special friends: Miranda Schwartz, Jessa Blom, Shane Johannsen and Emily Johannsen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin with Father James Steffes officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Worlein Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
