Area farmer Craig Hanson is one of six farmers to recently donate $2,500 to various nonprofits throughout southeastern Minnesota via America’s Farmers Grow Communities, a program through the Monsanto Fund.

Hanson donated to the Adams Swimming Pool.

Winning farmers and their chosen organizations from the greater Owatonna area — Dodge, Freeborn, Mower, Olmstead, Steele and Waseca counties — participated in a special check presentation at the North American Farm and Power Show on March 20.

For five years, America’s Farmers Grow Communities has collaborated with farmers to donate over $16.5 million to over 7,300 community organizations across rural America. This year, winning farmers will direct another $3.3 million to nonprofits to help fight rural hunger, purchase life saving fire and EMS equipment, support ag youth leadership programs, buy much needed classroom resources, and so much more.
