It’s time to celebrate puppies and kitties once again with a big dish of pasta.

The Mower County Humane Society’s annual Pasta Dinner fundraiser will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, inside the Holiday Inn.

The humane society raised more than $13,000 during last year’s fundraiser, which included the dinner and the traditional silent and live auctions.

Volunteers hope the fundraiser can attract more people this year to help the society’s overflow of animals.

“Every bit of that money goes toward running the shelter,” MCHS President Peggy Olson said. “It’s huge for us, and everything that people donate to us is just a huge help.”

The humane society, located at 101 22nd St. SE, has more than 130 cats and more than 30 dogs at the moment, according to Olson. What’s more, the society has more animals waiting at the Austin Vet Clinic once adoptions pick up.

“We are completely full,” Olson said.

The auctions will include a 32-inch flatscreen TV, a football autographed by Teddy Bridgewater and donated by the Minnesota Vikings, a signed Austin Bruins jersey along with two tickets to a Bruins game, and more.

Dinner will start at about 3:45 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $4 for children and can be purchased at the fundraiser.

“We hope to have a great turnout, because it is a lot of fun,” Olson said.
