Mystery trip get us near home

Our summer travel is on the road again. Summertime moves so quickly and we want to enjoy it as much as we can.

One of the most popular trips we host is a Mystery Trip. This year we have planned two.

Recently, we made our first outing with several stops, almost all at sites that had not ever been visited by a large motor coach.

Our first stop was the exception, as the Greibrok farm has indeed hosted many motor couch tours.

This farm has some 30 rooms with a huge collection of many things including farm toys, a circus room and so much more. Mrs Greibrok has many items in her collection of dolls and wall hangings. This is a tour for the entire family.

The next stop was at a recently opened Czech Inn Bread and Breakfast, in a charming country setting. It’s decorated tastefully with some of their collections and beautiful wood work. Kolaches and coffee at the Czech Inn was appropriate in the sunny kitchen and dinning area.

Lunch was at the only restaurant in nearby Hayward, where all the stops were pulled out to serve us a real country style dinner.

We took a short walk to a meat market with sampling.

We took another first-time motor coach trip a few miles down the road was to visit an historic farm site where we enjoyed beverages and bars served on the lawn.

Our last stop was at the home of a couple who have decorated with the rewards of their favorite hobby — wild game hunting. Their luxurious cabin-like home is decorated with displays of mountain wild life and larger animals including bears, mountain lions and so much more.

They used wood and stone to decorate for an outdoors feeling with lots of living space to enjoy the area they have made for themselves.

I am sure you may have realized that we were no further than 10 miles from Austin. We showcased the Hayward area and ended our tour near Lansing.

We were tourists in our own hometown area. These are definitely fun to plan.
