The longtime Austin resident hopes to continue to help the city work on a variety of issues, from Vision 2020 to sustainability to rental housing and more.

“There’s so much going on with Vision 2020 and I feel continuity would be helpful,” Anderson said. “Plus it’s a very exciting time to be involved with what’s going on in the city of Austin.”

Anderson’s mother grew up in Austin and Anderson spent time in the community as a child. She moved to Austin in 1974. She has worked at KAAL for more than 20 years, including a recent stint from 1994 on as a promotion coordinator. Anderson has also been involved with Austin arts, as she helped found Matchbox Children’s Theatre and was involved with the Paramount Theatre for a number of years.

She first ran for Austin City Council in 2008, when she lost by only 17 votes. She successfully captured the at-large city council seat in 2010 and 2012. This year, the at-large seat becomes a four-year term. Anderson is running unopposed for the at-large seat.
