On Saturday, Nov. 2, we will be partnering with the Hormel Historic Home in hosting the 2013 Harris Piano Competition. It is named after MarySue Hormel Harris who, through a trust, provides funds for the Hormel Historic Home to be able to offer music programs to the community.

Mrs. Harris is the granddaughter of Ben F. Hormel who is George’s youngest brother.

Special guests for this year’s competition will include MarySue Hormel Harris and Dr. Andrew Hisey, a Professor at the University of St. Thomas. Hisey has served on the piano faculties of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Ohio) and St. Olaf College, and is one of the founding directors of the National Group Piano and Piano Pedagogy Forum.

The afternoon final concert and awards ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Historic Paramount Theatre.  This portion of the event is free and open to the public.  Please join us, and support these talented youth and hear from our special guests.
