Austin Stars 12 U win tourney at Todd Park

The Austin Stars 12U corporate management group baseball team won the 35th youth international baseball tournament over the weekend at Todd Park.

The CMG team went unbeaten in the tourney and was powered into the championship round with wins over Le Sueur, Thunder Bay, Canada, Minneapolis Orange, and Shelby in pool play.

The big hit of the wood bat tourney was a towering grand slam by Grant Skifter in the pool play game against Shelby.

The Lacrosse team fought their way back into the championship round and the two teams met for the second time in the tourney, with Austin winning The title 2-0.

It was only the third time Austin has won their own tourney in its long history. The other two Austin teams met for third place with Reichel foods team beating Local 9 5-2.

Le Seuer took the consolation title 2-1 over Minneapolis Blue.

The sportsmanship trophy was awarded to East Ridge.

“The tourney was a great success” said director Mike Holtorf. “We decided to make it a wood bat tourney, and the kids seemed to like the idea.”
