The Austin City Council will briefly meet for a work session at 5:15 p.m. Monday, April 22, in the city conference room to discuss street project bids.

The council will award bids for street construction projects at Eighth Street West, and 10th Street and Third Avenue Northwest.

Council members will likely award the Eighth Street West project to Doyle Conner Co., which bid the project at $797,000, or about $20,000 less than the city estimated. The project involves pavement reconstruction, and underground utility and sidewalk replacement.

The 10th Street and Third Avenue Northwest project will likely go to Ulland Bros., Inc., which bid $979,000, or about $3,000 more than city estimates. That project includes pavement removal, storm sewer reconstruction, sewer extensions, paving, sidewalk, curb and gutter work.

The council will immediately go into closed session after the meeting for a personnel issue.

The Austin Port Authority is also expected to meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, inside council chambers.

The port authority will discuss several items, including a potential Development Corporation of Austin building at the Cook Farm Industrial Park.
