The Shooting Star Trail could be set for an expansion, but not in the direction people expect.

Representatives with the Mitchell County Board of Commissioners are scheduled to attend Tuesday’s Mower County Board meeting to discuss linking the Shooting Star Trail with trails in Iowa.

Leaders with the county and Prairie Visions are working on a route for the Shooting Star Trail to reach Austin, but that process likely won’t move forward until the county can secure state funds.

The county board meeting opens with a department Report for County Extension from LuAnn Hiniker.
