The county board has reserved its decision on whether to further trim down a roughly 9.05 percent tax until Thursday.

The board is scheduled to set the 2013 budget and tax increase, and the commissioners will decide if it will use any of the county’s roughly $13 million in unassigned reserves to offset levy increases.

At the Dec. 6 Truth in Taxation meeting, multiple county residents urged the board to use reserves to lower the proposed tax increase.

Commissioners have indicated it prefers to use reserves, but it’s unclear how much of the reserve balance it will spend down, since the board plans to use reserves to fund multiple projects in the next few years.
