Our congressman, Tim Walz, visited Austin the evening of Oct. 25 and spoke to a group gathered in a private home.  I had the pleasure of being in that group.  As Tim spoke, it became evident that this was a moderate Democrat that had a great desire to work across party lines to solve the problems that face our nation.

He has focused on veterans issues where he has broad experience.  He also emphasized agriculture and was disappointed that the farm bill which members of both parties supported was not moved forward for a vote.

Aside from these issues, he obviously has a deep understanding of our economic problems and a sincere interest in many other matters that beg to be addressed by a productive congress.

We should return Tim Walz to Congress.
