Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Recently, Austin’s Summerset Theatre opened its 56th season with “Annie,” shown over seven dates. This will be followed by its second show, “Bright Star,” starting in July.

We hope you’ve been able to take in a showing of “Annie,” and if you haven’t, we hope you will be able to soon, because this is a group of people that puts in hard work and long hours to bring you, the audience, top notch shows.

We, in Austin, should feel fortunate to have such a vibrant display of the arts. It speaks to a part of our community that shares a love for the stage and arts in general, so much so that they are willing to put in this work year after year.

When you consider Summerset and Riverland Community College Theatre, you realize that Austin is host to one of the top theater scenes in southeastern Minnesota, filled with souls young and old who simply love to perform.

Take it one step further, you realize it’s indicative of what Austin offers across a wide range of activities and entertainments including the Austin Symphony Orchestra, Austin ArtWorks Center and the arts programs in the schools themselves.

None of these are new organizations, but it’s worth noting how worth your time these groups are, so make an evening of it and take in a show. You will love the experience.
