People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) can save money without risking benefits through a Special Needs Trust or an ABLE account.

A Special Needs Trust allows individuals to set aside funds for specific expenses without affecting eligibility for government benefits. It’s managed by a trustee who ensures the money is used appropriately.

An ABLE account, on the other hand, lets individuals save up to a certain amount annually for disability-related expenses. Both options provide avenues for financial security while maintaining eligibility for vital benefits.
