Esther Frances Anthonisen, 83

Esther Frances Anthonisen, 83, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Sacred Heart Care Center.

Esther Frances Hyland was born on October 26, 1940 to Jens and Esther (Smith) Hyland in Austin, Minnesota. Esther graduated from Adams High School in 1958 and married Arleigh Ingwer Anthonisen on November 12, 1961 at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minnesota. She worked in the home taking care of children as well as raising her own before working as a CNA at Sacred Heart Care Center from 1984-2009.

Esther was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church for more than 50 years, teaching Sunday school, making Lefse and Rosettes as well as serving Wednesday night meals and setting up communion for the church.

Esther was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, and sister.

Esther is survived by her son: Arleigh (Julie) Anthonisen, son: Keith Anthonisen, daughter: Margaret (Dan) Mittelsteadt; grandchildren: Andrew (Tanya), Darlene, Jeremiah, Joseph (Caitlin), Hannah (Adam), Elizabeth (Muhammed), Brandy (Alex), Matthew, Nicodemus (Haley), Michael (Lillian), Sage, Abigail, Autumn, Zander and Isaac; 13 great grandchildren; sister: Betty Vold; sisters-in-law: Irene Hyland, Ernstine Hyland, and Karen Anthonisen; many nieces and nephews and her dog Snickers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arleigh I. Anthonisen; her parents, Jens and Esther Hyland; brothers, Milo, Myron, and Robert; brothers-in-law, Vernon Vold and Louis Anthonisen; and sister-in-law, Helen Hyland.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Reverend Madison Chelberg officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 12 from 5-7 pm at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and for one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Lansing Cemetery, Lansing, Minnesota.
