Robert “Bob” M. Thompson, 92

Robert “Bob” Merle Thompson, age 92, of Brownsdale, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Legacy of Brownsdale. Bob was born on July 12, 1931, in Little Sauk, Minnesota, to Everett and Lyda (Olson) Thompson. He attended school in Little Sauk for eight years and graduated from Morris Ag School in 1948. On June 6, 1954, Bob married Shirley Beiries in Sauk Centre. The couple was together for 28 years and were blessed with three children. In September 1982, Bob married Barb Bray in St. Ansgar, Iowa. They were married twenty years until Barb’s passing in 2002. Bob enjoyed the companionship of Judy K. Adams for 22 years. Bob was a creamery manager in Long Prairie, Dodge Center, and Mazeppa for 30 years. He then purchased a Coast to Coast Hardware store in Winnebago and operated it for 15 years. During these times, Bob also drove school bus for 24 years. Bob enjoyed fishing, boating, waterskiing, camping and bowling. He and Judy traveled to Arizona in their motorhome and had a shared love of dogs. Bob attended Cornerstone Church in Austin and was a volunteer firefighter for many years for the Dodge Center and Mazeppa Fire Departments.

Bob is survived by his son, Mark (Jennifer) Thompson of Brownsdale; grandson, Eric (Chelsie) Thompson of Buena Vista, Virginia; one great-grandson, Liam; companion, Judy Adams; two sisters-in-law, Lola Thompson of Sauk Centre and Janet Thompson of Lakeland, Florida; and beloved dog, Tommy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Lyda; first wife, Shirley; second wife, Barb; son, Charles; daughter, Kari; sister, Rhoda (Freddie) Ostendorf; and two brothers, Gene and Richard Thompson.

The memorial gathering for Bob will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. The interment will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Long Bridge Lutheran Cemetery, Little Sauk, Minnesota with Merlyn Olson officiating. Memorials are preferred to the Brownsdale Fire Department. Worlein-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
