June Smith, 76

June Marie Smith, 76, of Adams, Minnesota, passed away while camping and surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

June was born on November 17, 1947 in rural Adams, Minnesota to Vernon and Priscilla (Duren) Kiefer. She attended grade school at Sacred Heart School and graduated from Adams High School in 1965. June married Lawrence Smith on February 8, 1969. June worked various jobs in the community until her retirement.

In her spare time, she loved spending time camping with family and friends and attending events for her grandchildren and great granddaughter. June enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, sewing and crafting. She looked forward to her annual “sisters’ weekend” trips as well as bus trips with her siblings on Smitty’s Great Adventure.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Priscilla Kiefer; and her husband, Larry Smith.

June is survived by her five sons and daughters-in-law: Jeffrey (Brenda) Smith of Osage, Iowa, Tracy (Angie) Smith of Taopi, Anthony (Jenna) Smith of Mankato, Corey (Tina) Smith of Austin, and Benjamin Smith of Mankato; grandchildren: Niklas and Katerina; Michael and Brooklyn; Gabrielle, Alexis, and JJ; Aryana, Alayna and Arianna; Leyton and Miley; and Kirsi; one great granddaughter: Luciana; siblings: Sandra (Kenneth) Jax, Farmington, MN, Carol (Michael) Murphy, Austin, MN, Linda (Adry) Huemann, Champlin, MN, Terance (Carol) Kiefer, Adams, MN, Vernon Kiefer, Jr. (Jolene Nelson), Austin, MN, Jack (Carol) Kiefer, Rose Creek, MN, Dean (Emily) Kiefer, Adams, MN, David (Susan) Kiefer, Austin, MN, Gene Kiefer, Wanamingo, MN, Rosanne (Mark) May, Johnsburg, MN, Mary (Mark) Sedelbauer, Hixton, WI, Thomas Kiefer, Adams, MN, Leonard (Gail) Kiefer, Rose Creek, MN, and Barbara (John) Kloeckner, Johnsburg, MN; many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, June 7th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg with Father James Berning officiating. There will be a visitation at the Adams Funeral Home on Saturday, June 1st from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. and visitation will also be on Friday, June 7th at the church for one hour prior to the mass. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Johnsburg.
