Jeanne Agnes Simon Blake, 88

Jeanne Agnes Simon Blake, age 88, of Austin, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at her home. Jeanne was born in Stacyville, Iowa, on December 14, 1935, to Christina (Halfman) and Joseph Simon. She attended Visitation grade and high school, graduating in 1954. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1957, working in Mason City, Iowa, California, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and 30 ½ years at St. Olaf Hospital (Austin Medical Center) in Austin as an RN in the Intensive Care Unit. In September of 1960, she married Richard Ethen. They had five children, Todd, Tim, Laurie, Thomas, and Troy. They later divorced. In February of 1974, she married Adrian Blake. They had one daughter, Rebecca. Jeanne enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and quilting, having belonged to Keepsake Quilters of Austin, MN. She was a member of Queen of Angels Church and a member of the Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors are her children, Todd (Lucinda) Ethen of White Bear Lake, MN, Tim (Linda) Ethen of Maple Grove, MN, Laurie (Gregg) Cottingham of Duluth, MN, Troy Ethen of Minneapolis, MN, and Rebecca Driscoll of Rosemount, MN; former daughters-in-law, Sherry (Jeff) Weaver of Austin, MN, and Wendy Ethen of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Arlene Hartnell of Sun City, AZ; sisters-in-law, Lou Ann Simon of St. Ansgar, IA, Darlene Simon of Waterloo, IA, and Charlotta Simon of Stacyville, IA; step-children, Dave (Shirley) Blake of Austin, MN, Gary Blake of Summit Hill, PA, Leonard Blake of Wauzeka, WI, Keith (Merilee) Blake of Oakland, MN, Diana (Kevin) Sutter of La Crosse, WI, and Joanne (Philip) Miller of Austin, MN; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas, husband, Adrian Blake; stepson, Alan Blake; sisters, Kathryn Simon, Marion Leonaitis, and Helen Church; brothers, LaVerne, Kennyth, Marvin, and Wilbur Simon; sister-in-law, Mildred Simon; and brothers-in-law, Charles Church, Stanley Leonaitis, and Robert Hartnell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or a veteran’s organization of donor’s choice.
