This Memorial Day weekend, people will be jumping into summer and enjoying the next three days with family and friends.

But we also hope to see you at any one of the long list of Memorial Day events on Monday so that we can honor those people who served and gave their lives defending our country and what we stand for.

Included over the next couple pages is a list of area programming throughout our area, giving you plenty of opportunities to take part in these meaningful tributes.

9:45 a.m.: Mill Pond walking bridge for Lost at Sea ceremony

10 a.m.: Grandview Cemetery (Post 91 American Legion)

11 a.m.: Lansing Cemetery (Post 1216 VFW)

11 a.m.: Enterprise Cemetery (Post 91 American Legion)

8:15 a.m.: West St. Olaf Cemetery

8:35 a.m.: Evanger Cemetery

9:05 a.m.: St. John’s Cemetery south of Sergeant

9:25 a.m.: Waltham Cemetery, south of Waltham on Highway 56

9:45 a.m.: Greenwood Cemetery, south of Brownsdale

10:05 a.m.: St. Michaels Cemetery in Waltham

10:35 a.m.: Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield

11:30 a.m.: Memorial Day program at Hayfield’s Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Hayfield.

In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the Hayfield High School Gym. A chicken dinner will be served at the Legion from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

9:30 a.m.: Coffee and doughnuts in Foxhole for those participating today.

10:45 a.m.: Parade people meet at the west side of Hog Slat/Miners parking lot.

10:50 a.m.: Parade marchers assemble for route – start at West side of Hog Slat/Miners then march to the cemetery going to the northeast corner of the cemetery.

11 a.m.: Program begins

Lunch at 11:45 a.m. is available at The Servicemen’s Club

Only to those who have made previous reservations!

Serving: Pulled Pork Sandwich, Coleslaw, Potato Chips, pickles, brownie for $10. Veterans eat free, but still need a reservation to attend.

The afternoon program will include Presentation of 8 Quilts of Valor

9:15 a.m.: Lost at Sea Tribute on the bridge at the Shooting Star Bike Trailhead

10 a.m.: Final program at LeRoy Cemetery.
