Vera attended and graduated from Elkton High School. Following graduation, Vera attended two years at Austin Community College. During her college years she met her future husband, Richard L. Duholm of Austin. They were united in marriage on June 11, 1949 at Westminster Presbyterian Church where they were lifelong members. Together Vera and Dick raised their four children at the family home on South Kenwood (4th Street SW).

In Vera’s later years she became an avid Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves fan. She looked forward to her daily crossword puzzles and enjoyed a challenging game of Scrabble.

Family, friends, pets, and the simple things in life are what brought Vera the most pleasure.
