She graduated from Austin High School in Austin, MN in 1972, then went to Humboldt Institute of Traffic & Transportation Management trade school in Minneapolis were she was the only woman in the class. She graduated top in the class and the teacher said she would do great in acareer in the shipping business. But, Julie loved the idea of travel so she went into the travel business. She was a travel agent for 35 years, most of the time being the manager. She always treated her clients’ vacations as her own and had a great following. She also received the Golden Spike Reward from Amtrak for selling the most Amtrak. Because of the internet the travel business took a big hit and industry started to collapse. She when went on to become a Mobile Signing Agent which she did for another 5 years as she loved to help people.

She was diagnosed with a blood disorder in 2001 and started taking chemo pills then injections until 2022 when she couldn’t travel to the hospital anymore. She was also diagnosed with dementia in 2015 which she fought until Jan. 7, 2024.

Julie was a people person. Even in her state of dementia when she went to the hospital for chemo injections and she saw a person who was in a wheel chair, using a cane or in those special shoes she would ask if she could help them. She also loved small children and pointed out how cute they were.

She loved to travel to see the world and meet new people. She also loved ball room dancing (not the fancy stuff) and square dancing which she did for 20+ years with Glen until she couldn’t remember the steps. She was on a women’s pool league for many years as she loved the game and had lots of trophies including two for sinking the 8 ball on the break. When we bought our current house we had to make sure there was a room big enough for the regulation pool table we had so you could use full size sticks.

She is preceded by her parents and middle brother Lynn Hanson. She is survived by her brothers Steve and Craig Hanson of Sheridan, WY, Glen Davis her husband, son Matthew, niece Laura Hanson, nephew Eric Hanson and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and loved by many friends.
