Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Question: I have been thinking about getting a dash camera for my vehicle. If I do, where can I place it?

Answer: When it comes to placing things up in the windshield or dashboard area Minnesota has restrictions as a concern for obstructed vision and safety. Dash cameras are allowed if the driver feedback and safety monitoring equipment are mounted immediately behind, slightly above, or slightly below the rearview mirror. Some other things allowed are:

• Sun visors

Email newsletter signup

• Rearview mirrors

• Global positioning systems or navigation systems when mounted or located near the bottommost portion of the windshield.

  Electronic toll collection devices

• An identifying device for a transportation network company when the device is mounted or located near the bottommost portion of the windshield (with restrictions on color and manner.)

You can avoid a ticket — and a crash — if you simply buckle up, drive at safe speeds, pay attention and always drive sober. Help us drive Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths.
