Robert “Bob” Arett

Robert (Bob) Allen Arett a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2024 surrounded by his family.

Bob was born to Alfred “Villa” and Anne (Arens) Arett on January 21, 1948 in Austin, Minnesota. He graduated from Pacelli Catholic School in Austin in 1966. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Mankato State College, Mankato, MN in 1978.

After serving in the US Army from 1966-1969 he started working at Hormel in Austin and transferred to Fremont in 1979. He retired from Hormel in 2000 after 30 years.

Bob married his high school sweetheart Bonnie Fairfield of Austin on March 15, 1969 in Austin.

He is survived by his adoring wife, Bonnie and three children, Lisa (Randy) Vanek, Lori (John) Hogue and Allen (Dawn) Arett, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Camden (Becky) Elsasser, Cannon (Megan) Arett, Mason Mayberry, Cade, Mayberry, Madeline Mayberry and Aspen Arett; and great-granddaughter, Kennedy Elsasser; brothers, Tom (Pat) Arett. Paul Arett, William Arett, and A. Charles (Mary Beth) Arett; and sister, Carole Arett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Marie and Richard Fairfield; and sister-in-law, Carol Novak.

He was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

He was an avid supporter of Husker volleyball.

Surrounded by his loving family, Robert’s spirit will live on in their hearts. May his memory be a guiding light and a reminder of the love, warmth, and generosity he shared with all who knew him.

Funeral Mass Saturday, January 27, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Visitation from 9-10:30 A.M., Saturday with a Rosary at 9:30 A.M, all at church. Military Flag presentation will follow. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
