The Austin Packer Dance Team took home its second Big Nine title in the last three years when it took home the top spot at the Big Nine meet in Northfield Friday.

The conference title is determined by the combined scores of high kick, which Austin took first in, and jazz, which Austin took second in.

The Packers also took second in high kick and third in jazz in Totino-Grace Saturday.

It’s been a very busy weekend for the team,” Austin head coach Kayla Sellers said. “I am so proud of all of our dancers for competing in two big competitions over the past weekend. These kids gave it their all during each dance and our scores definitely reflect that.”

Seller said that winning the Big 9 Conference championship was special for the team as they took back the championship after having won it in 2022. She also gave her team credit for bouncing back with a strong performance on Saturday.

“Placing second in the varsity high kick category during the Totino Grace Invitational on Saturday is also a great accomplishment,” Sellers said. “All 11 teams we competed against were excellent teams, including Totino Grace, which took first place in high kick.”

Austin’s Marnie Nagele, Gabby Hernandez, Rachel Danielson and Lexie Yokiel were named all-conference and Eva Nelson, Salman Masood, Kaylee Clennon and Brenna Tschann were named honorable mention.
