Selma A. Lysne, 100

Selma Arlene (Thompson) Lysne, age 100, died on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at St. Mark’s Living in Austin. She was born on August 30, 1923, to Andrew Clarence and Judith Ronellie (Aldahl) Thompson. She was a graduate of Austin High School and the 1943 Teachers Training Class and taught school for three years. She married Harvey Oscar Lysne on July 27, 1943, in Bremerton, Washington.

She was a life-long member of Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved with the church Circle and WELCA. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, baking, and gardening. She also enjoyed visiting with and entertaining her family, friends, and especially going fishing with Harvey.

Selma is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Wayne) Bonnes; daughter-in-law, Linda Lysne; four grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Seeman, Matthew (Melissa) Bonnes, Nichole (Michael) Bialas, and Cortney (Dan) Manke; seven grandchildren, Tristan (Morgan), Faith, and Abigail Haun, Alex Manke, Natalie and Tyler Bialas, and Katelyn Bonnes. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey in 2016; son, Steven in 2018; parents, Andrew and Nellie Thompson; sister, Agnes (Donald) Anderson; brothers, Sylvester (Bernice) Thompson, and Charles (Betty and Irene) Thompson; and close cousins, Shirley Aldahl and Lester (Ilene) Aldahl.

The funeral service for Selma will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with a lunch to follow. The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Austin. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
