Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Tickets are going fast for the Michael Veldman and Friends Holiday Concert with the Austin Symphony at 2 p.m. on Dec. 10 in Austin High School’s Knowlton Auditorium.

We are expecting another sellout crowd this year so if you are planning to attend you need to purchase your tickets today. They cost $25 if purchased before the concert at Hy-Vee or the Coffee House on Main or online at www.austinmnsymphony.org  and $30 if purchased at the door the day of the concert. Doors will open at 1:15 p.m.

This year’s concert features many favorites from last year, including “White Christmas,” “The Prayer,” “Drummer Boy,” “Feliz Navidad” and many more. But the entire first half is new arrangements of Holiday standards such as “JingleBells,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Rudolph” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” to name just a few.

We are especially excited about adding a slideshow of historical photos of past holidays gathered from archives of the Mower County Historical Society and the Austin Daily Herald. Our thanks to those organizations for providing those beautiful pictures for our show.  As Michael puts it, we are here to “share many of the memories we all have when you make a community your home.”

The Austin Symphony views this concert as an opportunity for the community of Austin to gather together and celebrate, as a community, the joy of Christmas. We hope to see you there!

And don’t forget our next concert on Feb. 25 with world renowned pianist Jon Kimura Parker.

Feliz Navidad!
