Dixie Opal Wytaske, 88

Dixie Opal Wytaske formerly of Lansing, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on December 3, 2023, at ComforCare, in Austin MN at the age of 88.

Dixie was born on March 28, 1935, in Austin MN to James and Maude Wentzel. She was one of 11 children and the last to pass on. Dixie attended Austin High School and later became the proud mother of 9 children with her husband Adrian Blake. Dixie lovingly raised her children as a stay-at-home mom. As her children grew up, she went back to school and attended the secretarial program at the Austin Vo-Tech. She later married LD Wytaske where she acquired many step children and grandchildren.

Dixie was a hard worker. She worked as a cook and home health aide. She also worked in an electronics warehouse where she was a secretary and warehouse worker. She even roofed houses at one point. Dixie was a woman of honesty and integrity. She was kindhearted but a force to be reckoned with if she or someone she loved was being treated unfairly. She loved to dance, swim and visit with any and all.

Dixie is survived by her sons, David Blake (Shirley), Gary Blake (special friend Nancy) Keith Blake (Merilee), Leonard Blake (Deborah) and daughters, Diana (Kevin Sutter) and Joanne (Phillip Miller). 45 Grandchildren, 54 Great grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were very dear to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Maude Wentzel, brothers Robert, Dave, Guy, James Jr., Paul, and sisters Gloria Wentzel, Nettie Greenman, Viva and Jessie McGonigle, Dorothy Theuer, children, Vicki, MaryAnn, Alan, daughter-in-law Judy Blake and husband LD Wytaske.

Dixie was loved deeply and will be missed. Her family takes great comfort in knowing she is finally at peace in God’s arms. A strong-willed angel looking over us all.  A memorial gathering will be held at
